What is Car Accidents
Automobile accidents give rise to most of the personal injury claims in the United States. This isn’t new, given that there were more than 5 million police reported car crashes in 2012 alone, according to the NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Motor Vehicle Accidents and the Law
The law of negligence typically governs legal claims arising from motor vehicle accidents. Generally, people who drive automobiles must exercise the right care under any condition or situation. A failure to use reasonable care is regarded as negligence. A person who negligently drives a vehicle may be expected to pay for any injuries and damages, either to property or person, caused by his or her carelessness. The injured person, known as the plaintiff, is needed to confirm that the defendant was careless, that the negligence was a direct cause of the accident, and that the accident caused the plaintiff’s injuries.
