Helping build more sustainable DC metro area businesses and communities

Since the beginning of 2008, millions of dollars in goods and services have been transacted as a result of SB NOW membership.

Society's expectations for business have changed. Cutting-edge companies understand that appealing to a growing number of environmentally- and socially-conscious consumers, and positively impacting the communities where they live and work are essential components of building a successful and sustainable business. Customers want to buy products from companies they trust, investors want to minimize risk while also obtaining greater return, employees want to work for companies whose values they share, and government wants to work in partnership with companies and not in opposition to them.

The Sustainable Business Network of Washington (SB NOW) -- formerly the Washington D.C. Sustainable Business Network (DCSBN) -- was founded in 2004 as  a community of businesses, non-profit leaders, professionals, academia, and government representatives dedicated to building a more socially, environmentally, and financially sustainable local economy. Our common goal is to help make the Washington D.C. metro region a more sustainable place to live and work now-- and in the future – fully realizing its potential as a world-class capital city.

SB NOW also serves as a nexus point for parties to learn more about purchasing sustainable products and services.  SB NOW actively holds monthly "Sustainable Mastermind Series Events" and quarterly green and socially-responsible business networking receptions.

The Network exists to help empower consumers and businesses, working in partnership with communities, to embrace a corporate citizenship / corporate social responsibility (CSR) business model informed by the concept of the triple bottom line: People, Planet, and Profit. We offer targeted services such as our recently developed Green Business Certification based on our Essential Guide to Greening Your Business© and provide practical programs that address the unique needs and leverage the singular aspects and resources of the National Capital region to create measurable business and social value in the Washington, DC metro region.

SB NOW is organized and operated as a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. SB NOW membership dues are tax deductible. As always, consult with a tax professional for further clarification on claiming tax deductions.
